According to official orders, all liquor shops and wholesale warehouses in Assam and Meghalaya will open from Monday on Sunday.
All liquor shops and wholesale godowns in Assam will be open from 10 am to 5 pm, while in Meghalaya, it will be open from 9 am to 4 pm from 13 April to 17 April.
Excise officials of both the states will supervise the business and work of these liquor shops, wholesale warehouses and institutions given permission.
In a letter written to the Deputy Commissioners of all 33 districts, Additional Commissioner of Assam’s Excise Department (Additional Commissioner) SK Medhi has said that the state government along with 10 guidelines from Monday nationwide foreign liquor shops across the country , It has been approved to open bulk warehouses, bottle plants, furnaces.
These liquor shops will have minimum staff. Also they have to follow social distancing. Also, before and after touching the bottle, hands have to be washed with sanitizer. The employees will be given sanitizer. The letter states that all guidelines have to be strictly followed.
It has also been said in this letter that shop owners have to meet the food and other needs of their employees. It has also been said that liquor shop owners should arrange for their employees to lodge in the nearest place and arrange a separate vehicle for their arrival. Medhi further wrote in his letter that any violation of COVID-19 guidelines will be canceled.
The Commissioner of Meghalaya Government has said in a letter to the Deputy Commissioners of all 11 districts that liquor shops warehouses can be opened from 13 am to 17 April from 9 am to 4 pm. During this, it is necessary to follow social distancing.
